It's a dark, gritty place teetering on the edge of collapse, where corruption and misery seem to be the norm. The "succubus" label also feels inadequate; she comes across as something far more ancient and alien, struggling to emulate humanity, and I found that aspect of the story particularly compelling.

What Works Well

The world-building is a standout. The author paints a vivid picture of a civilization constantly threatened by otherworldly entities and evil spirits. I particularly enjoyed the author's portrayal of the protagonist's eldritch nature. She's narcissistic and detached, yet possesses a sliver of humanity that compels her to do good, even if unintentionally.
