My Thoughts on Inferno
"Inferno" is a dark, twisted journey that I wouldn't recommend to the faint of heart. It's a novel that throws you headfirst into a world of abuse, gore, and psychological torment, and it doesn't apologize for it. It's a story that will stay with you long after you've finished reading.
First Impressions
From the very beginning, "Inferno" makes it clear that it's not going to pull any punches. The tags alone—abusive characters, incest, gore, and more—serve as a stark warning. It's a novel that demands you check your triggers at the door and brace yourself for a truly disturbing experience. I appreciated that the story didn't shy away from its darker themes; it embraced them fully, for better or worse.
What Works Well
What I found most compelling was the MC's descent into madness. The author does a fantastic job of portraying his emotional and psychological breakdown. I found myself genuinely feeling for him, even when his actions became increasingly erratic. The world-building, while not the primary focus, is intriguing, and the concept of the royal seals and their implications adds a layer of mystique. It is a very dark story that I found difficult to turn away from.
Areas of Concern
The ML is a problem. His obsession with the MC often felt one-dimensional, and his actions, while perhaps intended to be complex, often came across as simply cruel. The ending, while fitting given the overall tone, left me feeling somewhat unsatisfied. I was hoping for a more definitive resolution, perhaps one where the MC found some semblance of peace, even if it meant the ML's demise.

Final Verdict
"Inferno" is a difficult novel to rate. On one hand, it's well-written, with a compelling (albeit disturbing) plot and a fascinating protagonist. On the other hand, the heavy themes and the morally reprehensible characters make it a challenging read. Ultimately, I'd give it a 3.5/5. It's a novel that I appreciate for its boldness and its exploration of dark themes, but it's not something I would recommend to everyone. If you're a fan of dark, psychological thrillers with a heavy dose of taboo, then "Inferno" might be for you. Just be prepared for a wild ride.
