My Thoughts on I’ll Divorce My Tyrant Husband
"I’ll Divorce My Tyrant Husband" promised a clever female lead trying to escape her fate, and while it had moments that hooked me, the overall experience was a bit of a rollercoaster. It's a story about Robelia, a modern woman transmigrated into the body of a neglected empress, desperately trying to divorce her cold emperor husband before she meets her tragic end, and that core premise is undeniably intriguing.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the idea of a confident protagonist using her modern knowledge to navigate a historical setting. Robelia starts strong, analyzing situations and planning her escape with a sharp wit that had me eagerly turning the page. The comedy aspect also shone through in these early chapters, as her attempts to sabotage her own image for a divorce were genuinely funny.
What Works Well
The strongest element, in my opinion, is the initial portrayal of Robelia. She's intelligent, resourceful, and determined to change her destiny. I appreciated that she wasn't a damsel in distress and actively took charge of her situation. Many readers also seem to agree that the beginning of the story is quite captivating. The author did a fantastic job of setting up the premise and introducing the characters, making me eager to see how Robelia would outsmart the system.
Areas of Concern
However, my enthusiasm waned as the story progressed. The biggest issue I found was Robelia's character development. Or rather, the perceived lack thereof. At a certain point, her cleverness seemed to devolve into stubbornness, and her actions felt less strategic and more… well, frustrating. Her insistence on clinging to the original novel's plot, even as events drastically changed, became a recurring source of annoyance. I also found it difficult to understand why she was so desperate for a divorce when she could simply enjoy the perks of being an empress and focus on her health.

Final Verdict
"I’ll Divorce My Tyrant Husband" has a promising start with a strong female lead and an intriguing premise. However, the inconsistencies in character development and the eventual shift in the plot ultimately detracted from my enjoyment. It's not a terrible read, but it's definitely a bumpy ride. If you're looking for a lighthearted romance with a clever protagonist, you might enjoy the initial chapters, but be prepared for a potential decline in quality as the story progresses.
