My Thoughts on I Want to Blow
"I Want to Blow" is a quick and quirky read that definitely leans into its comedic and ecchi tags. As a fan of lighthearted BL stories, I was intrigued, and while it certainly delivered on the humor, its brevity left me wanting more.
First Impressions
The premise is simple: a devoted (and maybe slightly too devoted) husband, AQ, constantly worries about his law enforcement husband, TD, and his dangerous job. This leads to some over-the-top antics and a lot of shamelessness on AQ's part as he tries to keep TD safe. The story immediately throws you into their dynamic, and you quickly realize this isn't a story that takes itself seriously.
What Works Well
The humor is definitely the highlight. I found myself chuckling at AQ's extreme reactions and TD's patient, almost pushover-ish responses. The story doesn't shy away from its ecchi tag, and the couple's passionate affection for each other is evident, even in the short amount of time we get to spend with them. Many readers will appreciate the lack of heavy drama, making it a perfect palate cleanser between more intense reads. It's a fluffy, feel-good story that's easy to pick up and put down.
Areas of Concern
The biggest drawback, in my opinion, is the length. It's just too short! I felt like I was just getting invested in the characters and their relationship when the story ended. While the humor is enjoyable, AQ's protectiveness occasionally borders on irrational. I can see how some readers might find his actions, like the phone incident during an investigation, a bit much. It stretches the bounds of believability, even within the comedic context.

"I Want to Blow" is a fun, albeit short, BL story that's perfect for a quick laugh. If you're looking for a deep, complex plot, this isn't it. But if you want a lighthearted, humorous read with a devoted couple and some over-the-top antics, then give it a try. Just be prepared to be left wanting more! I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. I really wish it could have been expanded into a full novel.
