My Thoughts on I Helped The Imprisoned Male Lead And He Became Obsessed
"I Helped The Imprisoned Male Lead And He Became Obsessed" promised a captivating story, and while it had its moments, my experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The premise, involving a caring protagonist and a male lead with a dark past, definitely drew me in.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked. The early chapters painted a vivid picture of the characters' dire circumstances, especially within the research facility. I found myself easily empathizing with Annis and Emilian. The story establishes a compelling dynamic between them, and I appreciated Annis's pragmatism in the face of a difficult situation.
What Works Well
The strength of this novel lies in its character development, particularly in the first half. I felt the author did a great job of portraying the trauma and subsequent bond between Annis and Emilian. Their interactions were heartwarming, and I was genuinely invested in their well-being. The political intrigue surrounding the emperor and his son also added an interesting layer to the narrative. The initial premise of surviving a horrific research facility was compelling and the author does a good job of making the reader understand the motivations of the characters.
Areas of Concern
However, as the story progressed, I felt the plot and character consistency started to falter. The female lead, Annis, seemed to lose some of her initial appeal. I found her to be somewhat inconsistent and lacking a defined personality outside of her initial pity and care-taking nature. I wished that there was more to her character than just being a "goodie". In addition, some plot points felt rushed or underdeveloped, such as the role of the Saintess and the broader world-building around "transcendents." The villains also felt somewhat generic and lacked depth.

Final Verdict
Overall, "I Helped The Imprisoned Male Lead And He Became Obsessed" is a decent read if you're looking for a story with endearing characters and a protective relationship. However, be prepared for some inconsistencies in the latter half and plot devices that might feel forced. It's good for passing the time but don't expect a groundbreaking or particularly memorable story.
