First Impressions
The initial setup is strong. Grace, the unwanted daughter forced into an arranged marriage with the infamous Monster Duke Arthur Felix, immediately garners sympathy. The curse looming over Duke Felix, which has claimed the lives of his previous fiancées, adds a layer of suspense and danger that kept me hooked. The story quickly establishes the stakes and the challenges Grace faces, making me root for her survival and happiness.
What Works Well
The romance, while slow-burn, is genuinely captivating. Watching Grace and Arthur navigate their circumstances, and slowly develop feelings for each other is quite rewarding. I particularly enjoyed the development of the side characters, like Leon, Duke Felix's brother, and Sally, the maid. They add depth to the story and provide much-needed support for the protagonists. The mystery surrounding the curse itself is also well-crafted, with hints of hidden antagonists pulling the strings. These antagonists are definitely a source of frustration and intrigue.

Grace's character can be frustrating at times. While her timidity is understandable given her upbringing, there were moments I wished she would be more assertive. The antagonistic forces outside of the curse also felt a bit much. I was annoyed by the Crown Prince's interference, especially when the main characters were already dealing with so much.
