My Thoughts on Even If I’m Sorry, So What?
"Even If I’m Sorry, So What?" is a web novel that certainly left me with mixed feelings. It's a blend of genres – action, drama, fantasy, even a touch of gender bender and psychological elements – promising a complex and engaging story. However, the fact that it's discontinued at chapter 36 casts a long shadow over the whole experience.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the premise. The idea of a dark academy setting and a potential revenge plot held a certain appeal. The opening chapters seemed to set the stage for something intriguing, hinting at a deeper, more nuanced narrative. However, I quickly realized that what I expected wasn't necessarily what I got.
What Works Well
Despite my reservations, there are definitely aspects of this novel that I found compelling. The writing style, at its best, is quite evocative, particularly when depicting the protagonist's life and emotions. I found myself genuinely moved by some of the scenes, which speaks to the author's ability to create a strong emotional connection with the reader. The protagonist is also a unique character, driven by distinctive goals, which sets them apart from many other characters I've encountered in similar stories.
Areas of Concern
One of the main issues I encountered was the shift in tone and direction after the initial chapters. The "villain arc" felt somewhat abrupt and, frankly, less engaging than the promising setup. The academy setting itself didn't particularly stand out, failing to capture my interest in a way that felt unique or fresh. The description of the story is also a little confusing, with some inconsistencies regarding the protagonist's gender.

Final Verdict
Ultimately, "Even If I’m Sorry, So What?" is a frustratingly incomplete experience. It shows flashes of brilliance, particularly in its character writing and emotional depth, but the discontinued status and somewhat uneven plot progression prevent it from reaching its full potential. While I'm glad I read what's available, I can't wholeheartedly recommend it, knowing that the story will likely remain unresolved. If you're willing to invest in a potentially unfinished story with some compelling elements, it might be worth a try, but be prepared for a bittersweet experience.
