"Dressed as the only ordinary girl in the military school" promised a unique blend of fantasy, romance, and military academy life within an omegaverse setting. As someone who enjoys a good reverse harem, I was eager to dive in. While the novel had some compelling aspects, it ultimately left me feeling a bit conflicted.
First Impressions
The premise is undeniably intriguing: a seemingly ordinary girl transported to a military school filled with powerful Alphas. I was initially drawn to the potential for underdog stories and the dynamics of a reverse harem where the female lead is unlike everyone else. The setup had the potential for both exciting action and heartfelt romance.
What Works Well
The world-building, at least in concept, is a strong point. The idea of a military school in an omegaverse is ripe with possibilities. Some of the male leads also show promise, with glimpses of depth and unique personalities. For example, the Best Command/Sniping Rival Captain sounds like a standout character, with his directness and genuine affection. The teacher who recognizes the MC's potential and encourages her hard work is also a welcome addition.
Areas of Concern
However, the execution seems to falter in several areas. The protagonist's apparent lack of agency and reliance on others is a significant drawback. I found myself frustrated by the description of her constantly being kidnapped, injured, or falling ill at crucial moments. It makes it difficult to root for her success when she seems to lack the drive to improve. The overemphasis on her "cuteness" and the male leads' infatuation based solely on her looks feels shallow and undermines the potential for meaningful relationships. I wanted to see more focus on her personality, her determination, and her growth throughout her military training.
