With tags like "adult," "smut," and "romance," I anticipated a mature exploration of love and loss. However, my journey through this novel turned out to be quite a rollercoaster.

The initial chapters held promise. The setup of the male lead's confusion and the female lead's newfound independence had me hooked. I found myself drawn to the idea of a "regretful ML" and eagerly anticipated a compelling grovel arc. Also, the cover art is undeniably gorgeous and does a great job of drawing the eye.

Unfortunately, the narrative took a sharp turn into territory I found deeply problematic. The male lead's actions escalated beyond simple arrogance into outright toxicity, making his eventual "redemption" feel completely unearned and unsatisfying. The story seemed to lose its way, becoming a mess of immature characters and inconsistent plot points. I struggled with the female lead's characterization; despite her internal monologues about strength and pride, her actions often contradicted these claims, leaving me frustrated with her lack of agency.

The toxic relationship dynamics, coupled with a weak-willed female lead and an unredeemable male lead, left me feeling disappointed. Ultimately, I found myself grateful for the subplot of the rejected second male lead, as the FL did not deserve him.
