Description
* This work contains elements of coercion. 「Beware of the evil that corrupts the pure. Resist the allure of their sweetness. Never be beguiled by the devil. -Holy Bible Chapter 1, The Three Commandments of the Demon」 Renie Valois, who grew up enduring harsh ab*se. In her struggle to escape from her tyrant-like father, she stumbles upon an old, decrepit chapel. ‘Let’s make a deal, child.’ There, she encounters a strangely captivating voice. ‘I’ll help you.’ “……” ‘But in return, you must become mine.’ A sweet voice, proclaiming itself as a god, made a proposition to me. Tired of being ab*sed, Renie makes a choice she can’t take back… * * * Renie forcefully pushed away his hands that were roughly groping her br*asts and twisted her body. She crawled on the floor, desperately trying to get away, but of course, Kahn wouldn’t let her go so easily. Like a predator cornering its prey, he watched her intently, then suddenly pounced on her. Due to the significant difference in size, it was as if she was being crushed under a boulder. “Why do you keep running away, Renie?” “Let go. Let go of me…!” “If you keep struggling, I might end up breaking those pretty ankles of yours.” As if to warn her not to take his warning lightly, the man gently stroked the area around her ankle.

My Thoughts on Deliver Us from the Evil One
"Deliver Us from the Evil One" is a dark fantasy web novel that certainly isn't for the faint of heart. Diving in, I knew the tags hinted at a potentially disturbing read, but I wasn't fully prepared for the emotional rollercoaster. This is a story that revels in its darkness, and whether that's a good thing depends entirely on your preferences.
First Impressions
The initial chapters immediately establish a tense atmosphere. The female lead is in a precarious position, and the male lead is… well, he's a demon lord. The narrative pulls you in quickly, establishing a sense of dread and foreboding that permeates the entire story.
What Works Well
The author excels at creating a palpable sense of entrapment. The female lead's feelings of helplessness are incredibly well-written, and I found myself genuinely sympathizing with her plight. The male lead, despite his monstrous nature, has moments of desperate vulnerability that are strangely compelling. His obsession and possessiveness, while extreme, add a layer of twisted intrigue to the dynamic. I found myself morbidly fascinated by his internal conflict, even as I recoiled from his actions.
Areas of Concern
The unrelenting darkness is definitely a double-edged sword. While some readers might appreciate the lack of redemption arcs and the constant tension, others might find it overwhelming. The violence, both physical and emotional, is graphic and pervasive. The power imbalance between the leads is extreme, and the non-consensual elements are significant. If you're sensitive to these themes, this story is definitely not for you. I also found some of the side characters to be underdeveloped, which detracted slightly from the overall immersion.

Final Verdict
"Deliver Us from the Evil One" is a challenging and disturbing read that will likely leave you with a lingering sense of unease. If you're looking for a lighthearted romance, steer clear. However, if you're drawn to dark, toxic relationships and aren't afraid of morally gray characters, this might be a story that captivates you, even as it unsettles you. Just be sure to proceed with caution and be aware of the potentially triggering content. I'm giving it a tentative 3/5 – it's well-written, but its extreme content makes it difficult to recommend widely.
