My Thoughts on Admiral, You Have It
"Admiral, You Have It" is definitely a unique ride, a blend of sci-fi, military action, and, surprisingly, a lot of domestic fluff. It's a completed original novel with an ongoing translation, and after diving in, I can see why it has garnered such varied opinions. While I can appreciate the lighter tone, I did struggle with some of the plot elements.
First Impressions
Initially, I was a bit thrown off. The story throws you right into the interstellar setting with a brawny admiral, Vee, finding an amnesiac who turns out to be more than he seems. The initial chapters felt a little disjointed, and I wasn't entirely sure what the plot was, with the focus being on the MC "raising" the ML. It took a bit to find my footing, but once I understood the dynamic between the leads, things started to click.
What Works Well
The core of this novel lies in the relationship between Vee and his "pet," Li (or Will). It's an enemies-to-lovers trope with a heavy dose of humor. I found their bratty, almost cartoonish, interactions enjoyable. Vee is a force of nature, all action and barely any brains, while Li seems to delight in pushing his buttons. The military setting, though not deeply explored, provides a fun backdrop for their slice-of-life moments, especially when their relationship progresses and they have a child. The story shines in its lightheartedness and doesn't take itself too seriously. The smut scenes are also surprisingly frequent and aggressive, which might appeal to readers looking for that.

Despite the enjoyable aspects, I found some inconsistencies and potential issues. The plot can feel a bit thin at times, and the world-building isn't particularly deep.
