My Thoughts on Zero Day Attack
"Zero Day Attack" promised a thrilling blend of action, hacking, and romance, and I dove in eager to see how it all played out. While I enjoyed certain aspects of the story, I ultimately found myself somewhat underwhelmed by the execution.
First Impressions
The initial premise was definitely intriguing. A lone hacker seeking revenge in a cyberpunk-esque world? Sign me up! I was expecting a protagonist who was cunning and resourceful, someone who could navigate the dangerous underbelly of the digital world with skill and precision. The idea of a clingy, doting love interest also piqued my interest, offering a potential dynamic that could be both sweet and intense.
What Works Well
The central relationship between the MC and ML definitely held my attention. The manhwa adaptation gets a lot of praise, and I can see why. The translation is solid, and the art style really brings the characters to life. If you're primarily looking for a light read with a focus on a possessive ML, you might find this enjoyable. The story moves at a decent pace, making it a quick and easy read.
Areas of Concern
However, I have to admit that I struggled with some of the characterizations and plot developments. I found the MC to be less of a strategic genius and more prone to impulsive decisions. Instead of a calculated mastermind, he often seemed to blunder into situations, needing rescue far too frequently. This undermined the initial impression of him as a capable hacker.
The ML, while initially appealing as an obsessive lover, sometimes came across as overly forceful. His actions occasionally felt more like stalking than genuine affection, which made me uncomfortable at times. The plot itself felt somewhat underdeveloped. The stakes never felt particularly high, and the antagonists lacked depth and believability. It felt like the romance took precedence over the action and suspense, leaving the main plot feeling secondary. The ML's supposed genius also felt underutilized, as his character becomes more of a plot device to solve the MC's problems, rather than an active participant in the story.

Final Verdict
"Zero Day Attack" has moments of charm, particularly in its portrayal of the central relationship and the quality of its translation and manhwa adaptation. However, the weak plot, inconsistent characterizations, and problematic elements in the romance ultimately prevent it from reaching its full potential. If you're looking for a light, fluffy read with a possessive ML and aren't too concerned with plot depth, you might enjoy this. However, if you're seeking a complex and well-developed cyberpunk thriller, you might want to look elsewhere.
