My Thoughts on VS Game
"VS Game" is definitely a web novel that left me with mixed feelings. As a complete oneshot, it promises a quick and steamy read, and it largely delivers on that front. However, the way it gets there is, shall we say, a bit bumpy.
First Impressions
Going in, I knew it was a short story, so I wasn't expecting a sprawling epic. The premise of a drinking game leading to a night of passion between friends is intriguing enough to grab your attention. The initial setup is fairly simple, establishing the dynamic between the MC and ML, and hinting at underlying feelings.
What Works Well
The story definitely doesn't waste any time getting to the point, and the explicit scenes are… well, explicit. If you're looking for a no-holds-barred dive into the physical aspects of a relationship, "VS Game" certainly provides that. I think the author does a decent job of portraying the ML's attraction to the MC, and there are hints of a deeper connection beneath the surface. There's a sense that the ML has been harboring feelings for a while, and the "game" is simply a catalyst.
Areas of Concern
Here's where things get tricky. The issue of consent is definitely a major sticking point. The circumstances surrounding their first encounter are, at best, dubious. The MC is clearly intoxicated, and the ML takes advantage of the situation. While the ML does seem to abide by the MC's "requests" during the act, it doesn't entirely absolve him of responsibility. This element might be a turn-off for some readers, and it's important to be aware of it going in. For me, it made it difficult to fully enjoy the story, even with the hints of genuine affection between the characters. I also felt that the plot could have been fleshed out more. The characters lacked depth and the story felt rushed.

Final Verdict
"VS Game" is a complex read. If you're looking for a quick, steamy oneshot and are comfortable with potentially problematic consent issues, you might find something to enjoy here. However, if you prefer your BL with clear consent and deeper plot development, this might not be the story for you. Ultimately, I think it's a story that sparks conversation, and maybe that's a good thing. But proceed with caution.
