Description
Dawon, a Santa Claus from the Korean branch, pays a large sum of money to have his own Rudolph and visits the Korean branch of Donor with a heavy heart. However, what Dawon found there was Korn, a fawn born without a leg. Korn, who was scheduled to be euthanized because he was born without a leg, is given an unexpected new life thanks to Dawon, as he is used as collateral until another deer is sold to him. However, Dawon treats Korn coldly, not to mention the zero possibility of Korn becoming his Rudolph since he can’t walk alone unless someone helps him, so he has no hope… This is the struggle of the three-legged deer, Korn, to become the Rudolph of Dawon.

My Thoughts on The Rudolph Deer, Korn
"The Rudolph Deer, Korn" certainly took me on an unexpected ride! Going in, I was intrigued by the Christmas-themed fantasy premise, and I'm happy to say it largely delivered. This isn't your typical holiday fluff, though; it delves into some surprisingly mature themes.
First Impressions
Initially, I was a little hesitant. The premise of a human adopting a deer calf raised some flags, and I wasn't sure how the story would navigate the potential pitfalls. However, I decided to keep an open mind, especially given the positive buzz surrounding the unique world-building and the characters.
What Works Well
The world-building is definitely a strong point. The concept of Santa's helpers being deer, rather than elves, is a refreshing twist on a classic tale. I found myself genuinely invested in Korn's journey. His struggles with ableism, stemming from being born without a leg, resonated deeply, and I was rooting for him every step of the way. The emotional impact of Korn's early chapters is undeniable – be prepared to shed a tear or two! Dawon's character arc, while starting off a bit rough, also proved compelling. Seeing him grow and evolve throughout the story was satisfying.
Areas of Concern
The romance aspect is where things get a bit tricky. The age gap between Dawon and Korn, especially considering Dawon adopts Korn as a baby, is definitely a sensitive issue. While the romantic elements are apparently concentrated in the bonus chapters of the second volume, it's something readers should be aware of going in. It's a "proceed with caution" situation, and readers uncomfortable with this kind of dynamic might want to skip those specific sections.

Final Verdict
Despite my reservations about certain aspects, I ultimately found "The Rudolph Deer, Korn" to be a worthwhile read. The unique world-building, the emotional depth of Korn's story, and the character development of Dawon kept me engaged. While the romance might not be for everyone, the core story of acceptance, overcoming adversity, and found family is genuinely heartwarming. Just be aware of the potential triggers and proceed accordingly.
