The European-inspired setting is well-realized, and the premise of a marriage between individuals of vastly different social standing immediately sets the stage for potential conflict and character growth. I was definitely hooked by the potential for a compelling power dynamic and the promise of slow-burn romance.

The author does a commendable job of building the world and establishing the power structures within the aristocracy. The male lead is, for the most part, a charming and attentive figure. I appreciated the effort put into showcasing his genuine care and consideration for the female lead. My biggest issue lies with the female lead's characterization. While I understand the need for vulnerability and growth, her naivete sometimes veered into frustrating territory. Her constant second-guessing of the male lead's actions, despite his consistent displays of affection and support, felt repetitive and, at times, unjustified. I found myself wishing she would trust him more and recognize the genuine effort he put into the relationship. This internal conflict, while intended to create tension, occasionally became a source of reader fatigue.
