My Thoughts on Player-Hunting Inquisitors
Alright, let's dive into "Player-Hunting Inquisitors." This one's a bit of a mixed bag, to say the least. With an overall rating of 2/5, it's clear that it didn't quite hit the mark for many readers, and I can see why.
First Impressions
Initially, the premise intrigued me: inquisitors hunting down players in a world where being isekai'd is seen as a crime. The tags like "academy" and "saints" added a layer of potential world-building that piqued my interest. I was hoping for a morally grey story exploring the ethics of dealing with "invaders" from another world.
What Works Well
It's not all doom and gloom. The writing itself seems competent, and the plot has potential. The idea of exploring the consequences of isekai and the reactions of the native population is a compelling one. The initial setup, with a Goddess of Light and a God of Darkness at odds, hints at a larger conspiracy that could be interesting to unravel.
Areas of Concern
However, the execution seems to be where things fall apart. The biggest issue, and one that several readers have pointed out, is the protagonist's and his group's fanatical approach. They're essentially religious serial killers, torturing and killing anyone who's been isekai'd, regardless of their actions or intentions. This makes it difficult to root for them, especially since they show little to no remorse or self-doubt.
The "harem" tag also seems misleading. The female inquisitors appear to be more like trauma-bonded comrades than actual romantic interests. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's important to manage expectations for readers looking for a harem story.

Final Verdict
Ultimately, "Player-Hunting Inquisitors" is a story with an interesting premise that's let down by its execution. The fanatical protagonists and their brutal methods make it difficult to connect with the story on an emotional level. While the writing is decent and the world-building has potential, the lack of moral complexity and the unlikable characters make it a tough read. I can't really recommend it unless you're specifically looking for a story with unapologetically villainous protagonists.
