"Non Zero Sum" is... an experience. Going into this novel, I knew it was going to be dark, but I wasn't quite prepared for the depths it would plumb. This isn't a light read by any stretch of the imagination, and it's definitely not for the faint of heart.

The initial setup is deceptively simple: a protagonist, Haewon, struggling with financial difficulties and harboring a crush on his wealthy best friend. What Works Well
Despite the heavy subject matter, I can appreciate the author's ability to create a truly disturbing and thought-provoking narrative. The novel excels at depicting the complexities of trauma and the ways in which individuals can become trapped in abusive relationships. The characters, while deeply flawed, are undeniably compelling. The exploration of how a toxic relationship can develop, and the potential for Stockholm syndrome to influence decision-making, is particularly well-executed.
