No More Prince
By 밀밭
2018
Description
A beautiful princess locked up in a western forest castle and a fire-breathing dragon. Contrary to what was known to the public, the two were not just a simple kidnapper and a hostage. A butler? A guard? A never-aging friend of her late mother? Either way, he was a hundred times better than the dumb princes that woke Mikaela up in the morning. Then one day, after being poisoned by the prince, the dragon lost consciousness. His body was gradually getting hotter and hotter…… “If I were a human, I would have to say I must have been senile.” Unbelievably, at some point, Mikaela was no longer a young girl. His sweet princess, raised by his own hands. The princess, who has been pestered by princes for ten years, cried out. One well-raised dragon, I don’t envy the ten princes. NO MORE PRINCE!

My Thoughts on No More Prince
"No More Prince" promised a quick dip into a fairytale turned on its head, and for the most part, it delivered. This wasn't a sprawling epic, but a bite-sized romance with a dragon twist. I went in looking for something light and entertaining, and I definitely got that.
First Impressions
The premise immediately grabbed me: a princess, a dragon, and absolutely no prince charming in sight. I love a good subversion of tropes, and the idea of a dragon nurturing a princess from childhood was intriguing. The synopsis was a little vague, but I was willing to jump in and see where the author took it.
What Works Well
The pacing is definitely a strong point. It's a fast read, perfect for when you just want to escape for a few hours. The romance between Mickaela and Jeno is, for the most part, sweet and heartwarming. The smut scenes, while brief, are tastefully done and fit the overall tone of the story. I appreciated that the plot, though simple, was present enough to keep me engaged beyond just the romantic elements. The author succeeded in creating a cozy, if somewhat compact, fantasy world.
Areas of Concern
I do have some reservations. While the short length is a plus in some ways, I also felt like the story could have benefited from more development. Certain plot points felt rushed, and I was left wanting more exploration of the world and its characters. I also found the author's constant emphasis on the age gap between Mickaela and Jeno a bit distracting. I understand it's a significant element of the story, but it felt like it was brought up a little too often, making it harder to fully immerse myself in the romance.

Final Verdict
Overall, "No More Prince" is a fun, quick read with a unique premise and a charming central romance. It's not perfect, and it certainly leaves you wanting more, but it's a solid choice if you're looking for a lighthearted fantasy romance to fill an afternoon. I'd say give it a try, just be prepared for a somewhat abrupt ending and a very prominent age gap.
