My Thoughts on My Strange Savior
"My Strange Savior" promised a blend of fantasy, romance, and a dash of the supernatural, and for the most part, it delivered. The premise alone, with a half-human protagonist navigating a zombie-infested fantasy world with modern knowledge, was enough to pique my interest. While the journey had a few stumbles, I found myself ultimately invested in the characters and the world they inhabited.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the unique combination of genres. A tomboyish female lead armed with modern knowledge in a medieval-esque setting facing off against zombies? Sign me up! The early chapters did a good job of establishing the world and the stakes, making me eager to see how the protagonist would use her knowledge to survive.
What Works Well
The relationship between the female lead and Kalion, the male lead, was a definite highlight. I appreciated how the story portrayed Kalion as a respectful and attentive lover, keenly aware of the female lead's emotions. The antagonist also stood out. It's refreshing when the "bad guy" isn't just some mustache-twirling villain, and this one seemed genuinely creepy and unstable, adding a layer of tension to the narrative. I also found the world-building to be quite strong, creating a vivid and memorable backdrop for the story's events.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed much of the story, there were aspects that gave me pause. There were moments when the pacing faltered, particularly in the middle sections. While the world-building was generally a strength, it occasionally bogged down the plot. Some of the choices made by the protagonist felt frustratingly illogical, and I felt the story could have benefited from a more thorough exploration of certain plot points.

Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "My Strange Savior" offered an enjoyable and unique reading experience. The strong character relationships, compelling antagonist, and well-developed world outweighed the pacing issues and occasional plot inconsistencies. If you're looking for a fantasy romance with a supernatural twist and are willing to forgive a few stumbles along the way, I'd say give it a try. I'd rate it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
