Description
In an era where only the fittest survive, Yujin, born weak and powerless, was forcibly taken from his small settlement to live among the Mounted Tribe. Without family or friends, he grew weary of merely surviving and even contemplated ending his life. Yet, every time he teetered on the edge, he found himself saved by Bart, the tribe’s most exceptional warrior. From that point on, Yujin began to feel a faint spark of energy to keep living, and alongside it, a budding affection for Bart. Though Bart never approached him first, he always saved Yujin’s life. And even when Yujin drew closer, Bart never pushed him away. Yujin kept his feelings buried deep, quietly nursing his affection for Bart—until one day, Bart reached out to him first.

My Thoughts on Love Song
"Love Song" is definitely a novel that evokes strong reactions, and after diving in, I can see why. It's a turbulent ride through a tribal setting, filled with intense emotions and morally grey characters. This isn't a light and fluffy romance; it's a mature exploration of obsession, survival, and, ultimately, love in its most twisted form.
First Impressions
Initially, I was intrigued by the premise. The tags promised a story steeped in ancient times with a yandere male lead, and I was prepared for some dark themes. The early chapters definitely deliver on that promise. The world-building is immersive, and the power dynamics between the characters are immediately apparent.
What Works Well
What I appreciated most was the complexity of the characters, particularly Bart, the male lead. He's far from perfect, and his actions are often questionable. I think his character development, though not always smooth, feels authentic to the harsh environment he inhabits. The story doesn't shy away from exploring his flaws, and seeing him try to reconcile his actions later on adds a layer of depth. I also found Yujin, the male lead, to be more resilient than initially portrayed. Despite facing numerous hardships, he demonstrates intelligence and resourcefulness. I was satisfied with the ending.
Areas of Concern
The novel does have its drawbacks. The initial power imbalance and some of Bart's early actions might be difficult for some readers to stomach. The lack of communication between the leads can also be frustrating at times.

Final Verdict
"Love Song" is a controversial novel that won't appeal to everyone. It's dark, gritty, and deals with difficult themes. However, if you're willing to look past the flaws and appreciate the complex characters and the exploration of love in its most obsessive form, you might find something worthwhile here. Just be prepared for a bumpy ride. I'd give it a cautious recommendation, acknowledging that it's definitely not for the faint of heart.
