Kicked Out of the Hero’s Party, and Now the Elves I Raised Are Obsessed with Me Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on Kicked Out of the Hero’s Party, and Now the Elves I Raised Are Obsessed with Me
This web novel presents a fascinating, if somewhat disturbing, premise: a porter, Ain, is unceremoniously dumped from the hero's party only to stumble upon and raise a group of rapidly-growing elf girls who develop an unhealthy obsession with him. The concept alone piqued my interest, but the execution left me with mixed feelings.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the setup. Ain's backstory as the discarded porter and his subsequent adoption of the elf babies offered a compelling hook. The accelerated growth of the elves and the hint of yandere tendencies promised a unique and potentially thrilling narrative. I was eager to see how the author would navigate these complex relationships.
What Works Well
Ain himself is a strong point. He's portrayed as a believable and sympathetic character, avoiding the pitfalls of being either a spineless pushover or an edgelord. His interactions, especially with returning characters from his past, feel genuine and add layers to the story. The suspense generated by the elf daughters also contributes to the intrigue. Their unpredictable nature injects a constant sense of unease, making every interaction feel fraught with potential danger.
Areas of Concern
However, the yandere aspect of the elf daughters is where the story begins to unravel, at least for me. Their malicious actions and lack of a moral compass quickly become off-putting. The narrative's failure to adequately address the disturbing nature of their behavior creates a tonal dissonance. I also found the erotic undertones of their relationship with Ain unsettling. The story seems to want to have its cake and eat it too, portraying the elves as both daughters and objects of romantic (or at least carnal) interest, which feels uncomfortable given their accelerated development and the fact that they are explicitly stated to be like 4-year-olds mentally. The elves, despite some attempts at individualization, ultimately come across as plot devices rather than fully realized characters.

Final Verdict
"Kicked Out of the Hero’s Party, and Now the Elves I Raised Are Obsessed with Me" presents an intriguing concept with a compelling protagonist. However, the over-the-top yandere elements and questionable handling of the relationships ultimately detract from the overall experience. While there are moments of suspense and genuine character development, the unsavory aspects make it difficult to fully recommend. It might appeal to readers with specific tastes, but it's certainly not for everyone.
