Description
Olivia, reincarnated as the villainess in a novel with a regretful male lead. She only tried to change her doomed fate, but ended up becoming the one and only childhood friend of the male protagonist, Kalian. “I will be Your Majesty’s eternal good friend.” She intended to use the original work to fix her doomed future and live as if she didn’t exist, keeping a low profile. However, she couldn’t help but be concerned about the female protagonist who was only set for a path of hardship. “Give her to me.” “What?” “I request the prisoner of the Valant Kingdom to be given to me as a s*ave, Your Majesty.” Unaware that her life would become twisted, Olivia decides to slightly twist the original story. *** Under the subtle moonlight seeping through the window, silver threads stretched out. What on earth just happened? As Olivia gasped, as she felt something caressing her already swollen lips, then a gentle breath descended upon her ear. “My first was all you, Livy.” “Y, Your Majesty… suddenly, what, huh!” Olivia shrank her shoulders without a chance to continue speaking due to the sharp pain. Kalian, who had sunk his teeth into her white nape, began to lick the bite mark with his tongue as he embraced her trembling form. As she shuddered at the unfamiliar sensation covering the sharp pain, deep sea-like eyes flashed between his slyly curved eyes. “So your first must rightfully be me as well.” She unconsciously held her breath as she met his persistent gaze. She felt like prey standing before a fierce beast. As if reading her confused mind, Kalian slowly pulled down her dress and growled. “If you’re thinking of backing out now, I might become the tyrant you so warned me against.”

My Thoughts on I Regret Becoming the Male Lead’s Childhood Friend
Okay, so I dove into "I Regret Becoming the Male Lead’s Childhood Friend" with a mix of excitement and trepidation, given the… interesting tag list. Overall, it was a decent read, but definitely not without its flaws. It had some compelling moments, but also left me wanting more in certain areas.
First Impressions
The premise itself is pretty intriguing: a female protagonist, Aria, transmigrates into a novel as the male lead's childhood friend. The European-esque setting and the promise of knights and nobles definitely drew me in. I was immediately curious to see how Aria would navigate the original plot while trying to forge her own path.
What Works Well
I appreciated the slow-burn romance between Aria and Kallian. The "love interest falls in love first" trope is always a winner in my book, and the childhood friend dynamic added another layer of complexity. The age progression aspect was also handled well, allowing me to witness their relationship evolve over time. I found the initial world-building solid, with enough detail to paint a vivid picture without getting bogged down in unnecessary exposition. Kallian, the male lead, had some genuinely swoon-worthy moments, even if he took his sweet time to act on his feelings.
Areas of Concern
Honestly, Aria's denseness was a major source of frustration for me. Her unwavering focus on the original plot, to the point of trying to set up Kallian with the original female lead, felt forced and made her seem oblivious to her own feelings and the feelings of those around her. This insensitivity made it difficult to fully connect with her character. Also, I felt that the ending was rushed and unsatisfying. After all the build-up, the confession felt anticlimactic, and the story just abruptly ended. I really wanted to see more of their relationship after they finally got together. And, let's be honest, while the "smut" tag is there, the explicit scenes are few and far between, and the initial encounter is, to put it mildly, problematic.

Final Verdict
"I Regret Becoming the Male Lead’s Childhood Friend" is a mixed bag. It has its charming moments and a compelling premise, but the frustrating protagonist, problematic content, and rushed ending ultimately hold it back. It's a decent read if you're looking for a slow-burn romance with a fantasy setting, but be prepared for some potentially triggering content and a less-than-satisfying conclusion. I'd give it a solid 3 out of 5 stars.
