Okay, those first few chapters? Whew! They were a whirlwind. The pacing felt incredibly fast, almost like the story was tripping over itself to get to the regression element. It was a bit disorienting, and I can see why some readers might be put off initially. I almost considered dropping it, but I'm glad I persevered.
What Works Well
Once you get past the initial hurdle, the story really finds its footing. The political machinations are surprisingly well-developed. It felt like I was reading a complex action novel with a healthy dose of romance and… spice. The male lead is definitely a highlight; I found his personality quite engaging.
