Description
Healer Zed, who sets out to hunt monsters, gets transported to a dimension where robots clean the streets and cars fly. He is taken to a mental health facility as he is mistaken for a vagrant. David, who is mostly mechanical due to an accident during childhood, suffers from wounds that don’t heal properly. He decides to bring Healer Zed, who is in the mental health facility, to aid him. “What kind of monsters are those?” “Those are robots….” “Monsters must be hunted down. It seems here they are bred for labor.” … “Zed, this place is really a mess.” David’s kind tone only intensified Zed’s frustration. As David looked up, he had an expression of pure amazement as if genuinely impressed by the mess. Zed withdrew his hand that had been groping the ground. Can Zed, inexperienced in this new world, get along with the smiling yet morally broken David?

My Thoughts on Gold Dot
"Gold Dot" definitely delivered on the promise of an interstellar romance with a dark edge. It threw me right into the thick of things with Zed, our fish-out-of-water MC, and David, the ML with some serious issues. Overall, I found it to be a fun, albeit intense, ride.
First Impressions
Right off the bat, I was intrigued by the unique premise. Zed's healing abilities and the sci-fi setting created a fresh backdrop for the developing relationship. The cover art is fantastic and perfectly captures the vibe of the story.
What Works Well
The dynamic between Zed and David is the real draw here. David is absolutely unhinged, possessive, and obsessive, and I was completely here for it. His devotion to Zed goes to Olympic levels of extreme, and I appreciated that the author didn't shy away from exploring his darker tendencies. I enjoyed how the story explored the roots of David's behavior, even finding a twisted sort of logic to it. Zed's patience and acceptance of David's quirks was endearing.
The pacing was solid, keeping me engaged from beginning to end. I also appreciated the bits of humor sprinkled throughout, especially Edden's commentary. The story wasn't overly long, which kept it from dragging.
Areas of Concern
One element that gave me pause was the portrayal of mental health. While I appreciated Zed's patience, his lack of action in seeking professional help for David felt a bit naive, especially given his healing abilities. I also wished there was more closure regarding the fate of Earth.

Final Verdict
Despite a few minor issues, "Gold Dot" is a compelling read. If you're a fan of dark romance with obsessive love interests and don't mind a bit of morally grey behavior, I'd recommend giving it a shot. Just be prepared for a wild and intense ride!
