Description
Somerset, the land of abundance, is the only place in the kingdom where golden apples are cultivated. Daisy, the beautiful owner of this prosperous estate, is enjoying her days of freedom when she receives an unexpected visitor. Ginger Hamilton arrives, carrying with her the past that Daisy has been avoiding and running from. Ginger brings news that Noah, Daisy’s son, is being neglected at the Sinclair Count’s residence in the capital. Without hesitation, Daisy boards a train to Paddington. During her journey, she reminisces about Inanna Brianset, the grand duchess with whom she was once close. Back then, Daisy considered Inanna a friend, but now she’s unsure of what to make of that beautiful girl from her past. After more than a decade, they reunite. Through their broken friendship, long-buried emotions begin to blossom. “Do you like cherries?” Daisy asked. “Cherries?” A faint smile played on Inanna’s lips. “There’s a cherry tree near this lake. I was planning to pick some for Noah today,” Daisy explained, rambling slightly. Inanna noticed Daisy’s hands fidgeting with awkwardness. “I do like them. In fact, you were the one who gave me my first cherry to taste,” Inanna replied. “You remember such things?” “Everything.” Inanna briefly closed her eyes before opening them again. A wistful atmosphere surrounded her, as if she were recalling old memories. “I remember everything,” she repeated softly.

My Thoughts on Daisy of Somerset
Alright, let me tell you about "Daisy of Somerset." I stumbled upon this little gem recently, and I have to say, it was a delightful surprise. This completed story, clocking in at just nine chapters, is a quick yet satisfying read that I think many of you would enjoy.
First Impressions
The story immediately pulled me in with its intriguing premise. Set in a charming, historical European-inspired fantasy world, "Daisy of Somerset" centers on the relationship between Inanna and Daisy. The initial question of what happened between them is compelling, and I was eager to find out.
What Works Well
What I appreciated most was the well-developed characters and the nuanced relationships. The mother-son dynamic was especially heartwarming, adding a layer of depth to the overall narrative. The story balances angst with moments of tenderness, creating an emotional rollercoaster that kept me invested. The world-building is also subtly done, providing a rich backdrop without overwhelming the central plot. The pacing feels just right, allowing the story to unfold naturally within its limited chapter count.
Areas of Concern
If I had to nitpick, the one thing I wondered about was the ten-year gap it took for Inanna and Daisy to fully realize their feelings. While the story does a good job of showing their connection, I did find myself questioning the length of time it took for them to get together. It did feel a little long.
Final Verdict
Overall, "Daisy of Somerset" is a well-written, engaging story that I would definitely recommend. If you're looking for a quick, impactful read with compelling characters, a touch of mystery, and a sweet romance, give this one a try. It's a delightful escape into a beautifully crafted world.
