"Confined Pheromone" promised a thrilling dive into the omegaverse with a possessive, yandere-esque lead. While the premise had me hooked, the execution, unfortunately, left me wanting more. It wasn't a terrible read, but it certainly didn't live up to its full potential.

The synopsis and tags alone were enough to pique my interest. Amnesia, obsessive love, and a strong protagonist in a mature, R-18 setting? Sign me up! I was ready for a rollercoaster of emotions and morally grey characters. However, as I delved deeper, I found myself struggling to connect with the story.

What Works Well

Despite its flaws, "Confined Pheromone" had moments that shone. There were glimpses of the intense, possessive dynamic I craved, particularly during a specific scene where the protagonist threatens to lock up the object of his affection. This moment, raw and filled with tension, truly captured the essence of the yandere trope. The initial concept of a world where omegas are treated so poorly also had the potential to add depth and conflict to the narrative.

My biggest issue stemmed from the inconsistent writing and translation. The frequent shifts in timelines felt jarring and confusing, making it difficult to fully immerse myself in the story. Character motivations, particularly those of Siwoo, were perplexing at times. His overly kind nature, even towards those who wronged him, made it hard to understand his feelings and desires. I also found the inclusion of irrelevant character POVs, especially towards the end, to be distracting and unnecessary. The ending, in general, felt rushed and left several questions unanswered. The potential for a truly dark and twisted romance was there, but it ultimately fell short of expectations.
