My Thoughts on Cat Sitter Knight
Alright, let's dive into "Cat Sitter Knight." I went in expecting a fluffy, heartwarming tale of a knight and his… well, cat. And while there are definitely elements of that, my overall experience was a bit more complex. This novel certainly has its charms, but it also has some frustrating aspects that held it back from being a truly great read for me.
First Impressions
The initial chapters are undeniably adorable. The setup, with Zen finding comfort in caring for a mysterious cat, immediately hooked me. The idea of a hidden identity and the potential for a sweet romance was definitely promising. The cat is the star in the beginning, and as a pet lover, I was instantly drawn in.
What Works Well
The world-building is quite well done, creating a believable European-esque fantasy setting. Zen is a likeable protagonist. His kindness and gentle nature make him easy to root for. The "animal rearing" aspect is also a definite plus, adding a layer of warmth and charm to the story. I can also appreciate the author's exploration of mature themes within a fantasy context.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, the novel stumbles in some key areas. The pacing feels off, with the plot dragging on longer than necessary. I also found the lack of communication between Zen and the Grand Duke to be incredibly frustrating. This constant miscommunication felt artificial and created unnecessary drama. It also felt like the cat, which was the draw for me, disappears for large stretches of the story.

Final Verdict
"Cat Sitter Knight" has a lot of potential, and there are moments where it truly shines. However, the pacing issues, frustrating miscommunication, and problematic character behaviors ultimately held it back. If you have a high tolerance for these tropes and are primarily interested in the fantasy elements, you might enjoy this. For me, the frustrations outweighed the initial charm, leaving me with a somewhat lukewarm feeling. I'd say it's a 3 out of 5 for me.
