My Thoughts on Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples
"Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples" certainly throws a lot at you right from the start. With its tags including everything from "omegaverse" to "R-18" and "tragedy," I knew I was in for a wild ride. And honestly, it delivered... mostly.
First Impressions
The premise is undeniably intriguing: a protagonist forced into the role of a villain with disciples. The "terminally-ill" aspect adds a layer of angst that I'm usually a sucker for. I went in expecting a dark and twisted tale, and the initial chapters definitely set that tone.
What Works Well
The world-building is quite compelling. I found myself drawn into the fantasy setting and eager to learn more about the power dynamics and the relationships between the characters. The plot, at its core, is interesting, and I appreciate the author's attempt to create a morally grey protagonist. The translation seems solid, which is always a huge plus, allowing me to get lost in the story without being distracted by awkward phrasing.
Areas of Concern
My biggest issue lies with the romantic elements. The "harem" tag prepared me for multiple love interests, but the execution left me feeling conflicted. The character of Oscar, the possessive yandere, is clearly a favorite, but I struggled to connect with him. I found myself much more invested in Ryan, who seemed like a genuinely better fit for the MC, yet it seems the story is pushing the MC toward Oscar, which is a letdown. This imbalance in character development and romantic focus soured my overall experience.

Final Verdict
Overall, "Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples" is a mixed bag. It has a captivating plot, intriguing world-building, and a morally ambiguous protagonist. However, the uneven romantic development, particularly the emphasis on a less appealing (to me) yandere character, significantly detracts from the experience. If you're a fan of dark fantasy with possessive love interests, this might be your cup of tea. But if you're looking for a balanced romance with well-developed relationships, you might find yourself disappointed. I'm giving it a 3 out of 5 stars.
