Description
‘I will now disappear from your life forever.’ “I don’t think of her as my wife. It’s just for the sake of appearances.” Cornelia Odile Blant, the wife of the Duke Blant.Though she was never loved by her husband, she gave her all and tried her best. She endured everything, from her mother-in-law’s ab*se and harassment, to the servants who consistently ignored her, and even the woman who flirted with the Duke as if she were his wife, all while trying to be a good daughter-in-law! All because she wanted to be recognized as a wife by her husband, Erich. However, what came back after her long efforts was… “The Duke wishes to marry Lady Arzen, so now you must disappear.” Her husband’s betrayal and the death of her child. The moment Cornelia fell into despair and ended her life, she returned to seven years ago when she was pregnant with a child. “This time, Mom will definitely protect you.” When she proposed divorce to her husband, she received an unexpected response… “I said we can’t divorce now that there’s a child between us.” And suddenly, her husband’s attitude changed. “What’s wrong? Do you not like the gift?”“I’m just saying it out of concern.” However, she no longer wavered. She now knew that the sun she had been following was nothing but an illusion. ‘So I’m going to end my time as the wicked wife, Cornelia.’ One day soon, she will leave the duchy.

My Thoughts on After the Wicked Wife Leaves
"After the Wicked Wife Leaves" definitely piqued my interest with its premise. A jaded wife, a cold husband, and a second chance at life? Sign me up! I dove in expecting a good dose of angst and a strong female lead, and for the most part, I wasn't disappointed.
First Impressions
The initial chapters hooked me. The setup is classic: a woman, mistreated and unloved in her past life, gets a do-over. She's determined to protect her son and escape the clutches of her seemingly indifferent husband. It's a familiar trope, but the execution felt fresh enough to keep me invested.
What Works Well
The strongest aspect of the novel, in my opinion, is the female lead's resolve. She's not just wallowing in self-pity; she's actively making plans and taking steps to secure her future and prevent the tragedies of her past. I found myself rooting for her as she navigated the treacherous waters of the aristocracy and outmaneuvered her scheming relatives. The political intrigue, while not the primary focus, adds a nice layer of complexity to the story. The early chapters, where she's coming to terms with her past and steeling herself against her husband, are particularly compelling.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the initial angst and the MC's strong will, I can see how some readers might find the later developments a bit predictable. The "trashy husband" trope is a bit overdone, and the inevitable wavering of the MC can feel a little frustrating. I also wonder if the plot twist involving the son's regression will ultimately enhance the story or detract from it. I have to admit, it feels like it could turn into a common trope, and I hope it will be handled with finesse.

Final Verdict
Overall, "After the Wicked Wife Leaves" is a promising read. It hits many of the right notes with its strong female lead, political intrigue, and second-chance romance. However, it also treads dangerously close to some overused tropes, and whether or not it manages to avoid those pitfalls will ultimately determine its success. I would say it's worth checking out if you're a fan of the genre, but be prepared for some familiar territory.
