Okay, that title is a mouthful, right? But beyond the ludicrous length, there's a surprisingly enjoyable story buried within. I went in expecting another generic "kicked out and becomes OP" narrative, and while it does follow some familiar tropes, it also manages to carve out its own unique space.
First Impressions
Initially, I was a bit wary. We've all seen this setup before: an underestimated protagonist, snotty nobles getting their comeuppance, and the eventual triumph of the underdog. The beginning felt a little rough around the edges, and I wondered if I was in for another predictable ride.
What Works Well
What really grabbed me was the blend of genres. This isn't just a fantasy story; it throws in mecha, a healthy dose of yuri romance, and even some post-apocalyptic elements for good measure. The world-building, while not always the most subtle, is engaging, and I found myself invested in Peria's journey as she develops her puppetry skills and builds a new life with her childhood friends.
The characters, while sometimes leaning into stereotypes, are generally likeable and their enthusiasm is infectious. I appreciated the emphasis on teamwork; the side characters aren't just there to prop up the MC, they grow and develop alongside her, contributing to the overall strength of the group. The romance, while frequent, felt organic and added a layer of warmth to the narrative. I found it quite fun to read how the MC's new life improved while the old environment declined.
