Description
Jirei, the protagonist, thinks that if he becomes a hero and defeats the Demon King in order to become the king, he can spend his days in laziness. To be chosen as a hero, he trained himself to become a hero, sometimes fighting higher-ranked monsters to the death. All for the sake of his future lazy life, Jirei nearly works himself to death in an effort to make it all happen. One day while he was sitting at a café, he overheard a conversation and learned about the harshness of being a hero and how much money he can make. In addition, he learned that even if he became the king, he couldn’t spend a lazy time with paperwork and other things. Hearing this, Jirei immediately quit the hard work and decided to build a small hut on the outskirts of the city and spend his time there. He figured that a minimum amount of money was all that was needed, so he worked occasionally as a D-class adventurer despite his SSS-class abilities, and otherwise lived lazily in the hut. One day when he was thinking, 「I wish this kind of life could go on forever,」 a hero girl named Letinore, who was chosen by the Holy Sword, visits Jirei. For some reason, she persistently invites Jirei to join her party. On top of that, the princess of the country also asks him to marry her. Naturally, Jirei refuses, but both the hero girl and the princess are unlikely to give up……! 「I just want to spend my days in laziness. Just leave me alone!」 This is a story about an overly strong protagonist who just wants a lazy life, who defeated the Four Demon Generals and has attracted the attention of the Demon King, after escaping to another country, princess of that country also asked him to marry her and almost made him the king.

I’m a D-Rank Adventurer, for Some Reason I Got Recruited Into a Hero Party, and Now the Princess Is Stalking Me Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on I’m a D-Rank Adventurer, for Some Reason I Got Recruited Into a Hero Party, and Now the Princess Is Stalking Me
This title is certainly a mouthful, and the story itself is a mixed bag, but I found myself enjoying it more than I initially expected. It's not groundbreaking, but if you're looking for some lighthearted fantasy with a touch of romance and a dense protagonist, this might just scratch that itch.
First Impressions
Going in, I was prepared for something completely generic, but I was pleasantly surprised. The premise, while familiar, has a certain charm. A D-Rank adventurer suddenly thrust into the spotlight? Sign me up. The early chapters establish the comedic tone well, and the hints of a past life as a hero definitely piqued my interest.
What Works Well
The comedy is definitely a strong point. The main character's struggles to avoid attention while inadvertently displaying incredible power are genuinely funny. I particularly enjoyed how the female characters are handled. They aren't just cardboard cutouts; they have their own personalities and motivations, making the "harem" aspect feel less forced and more organic. Also, I appreciated the long flashback arc. It provides much-needed context for the MC's character and motivations, and it's arguably the best part of the novel so far. It really adds some depth to what could have been a very shallow story.
Areas of Concern
The translation quality definitely needs improvement. While not unreadable, there are enough errors and awkward phrasing to be distracting at times. It's a shame because it detracts from the overall enjoyment of the story. Also, the short chapter lengths can be frustrating, especially when you're invested in the plot. It makes the pacing feel uneven at times.
Final Verdict
"I'm a D-Rank Adventurer..." is a fun, albeit flawed, read. It's not going to win any awards for originality, but it delivers on its promise of lighthearted entertainment. If you're willing to overlook the translation issues and short chapters, you'll find a surprisingly enjoyable story with well-developed characters and plenty of humor. I'd recommend giving it a try if you're in the mood for some fantasy junk food.
