My Thoughts on The Princess is Going on Strike
I dove into "The Princess is Going on Strike" with a mix of curiosity and caution, and emerged with fairly mixed feelings. It's a story with a lot of potential, but certain aspects held it back from truly shining for me.
First Impressions
The premise is definitely intriguing: a princess, abused and overlooked, gets a second chance at life. The initial hook of a determined female lead ready to shake things up after suffering through so much hardship is compelling. I was initially drawn in by the promise of a strong FL who would take control of her destiny.
What Works Well
The European ambience and complex family relationships definitely add layers to the story. I can see why readers are drawn to the slow-burn romance with the seemingly cold duke. The idea of a "strike" against the expectations placed upon her is also a refreshing take on the typical revenge plot. The dynamic between the FL and the ML's best friend also offered some interesting insights into the FL's perspective.
Areas of Concern
However, I have to admit I struggled with some aspects of the story. I found the FL's actions sometimes didn't align with her supposed genius. At times, she seemed oddly passive, even after her rebirth, which made it difficult to fully root for her. The internal logic felt a bit shaky at times. The FL's lack of self worth was annoying and hard to understand. Some scenes felt forced and illogical.
Final Verdict
"The Princess is Going on Strike" is a novel with an interesting premise and potential for a satisfying revenge story with a touch of romance. However, the execution falls short in some areas, making it a somewhat uneven read. It might appeal to readers who enjoy a determined female lead and slow-burn romance, but be prepared for some frustrating character decisions and plot inconsistencies.
